Fitted wardrobes are planned to suit a particular space rather than being a freestanding piece of furniture. The layout can take account of the room’s dimensions and the mix of hanging and folded storage you need.
A design can make use of available wall height and width while organising the inside around your clothes and belongings. It is also important to leave room around the bed, account for door openings and keep everyday storage within comfortable reach.
Count the long and short hanging items you own, then consider folded clothing, shoes, accessories and occasional storage. A useful starting point is to separate what you reach for every morning from what you use only seasonally.
Hinged doors need clear space in front of the wardrobe and can give a broad view of its contents. Sliding doors move across the opening and can be useful where floor space is tight, but access depends on the position of the panels. These are general design considerations; ask us which options are suitable and available for your room.
